A plug is a good idea if you ever feel the need to replace the wick To cut the slot in the tube I used my Aldi brand Dremel copy fitted with a thin grinding wheel. I then soldered the tube to the burner tank before fitting the end plug I have a stock of MF Steam wick which fitted nicely.
